The alligator ghar derives its name from its similar look to alligators — a long snout and menacing glance, though is not biologically related to the alligator itself, belonging to the genus Lepisosteus; alligators belong to the genus Alligator Daudin; the alligator is a reptile (cold-blooded), while the Ghar is not; their diets are substantially different as well, as is their habitat and bioregional location.
