Pro sports teams have significant carbon footprints, but many of them are trying to become more sustainable. The defending champion Philadelphia Phillies, for example, started a program called “Red goes Green” in order to educate their fans about saving energy and recycling. Fans can sign up to help clean up the ballpark after a game and recycle the plastic and paper left behind from food service. This allows fans a unique perspective on their team’s ballpark, and it also helps the stadium to reduce its environmental impact.
