Are the Florida everglades a swamp or a marsh?

    The everglades are marshland. Marshland is characterized by as a flooded plain usually without tree-cover and containing a specific ecosystem with prevalent bird life. Although the Florida Everglades are forested in some areas, it generally open, grassy and home to many bird species.
