Are flies unsanitary?

    Yes, the common housefly as well as various others in that family carry several harmful diseases and infections. One issue arrises from the time they spend in and around feces. Ingestion in anyway of another creature’s feces can cause sickness and the flies may often carry worms which, if transmitted, live inside the human body. These worms are called Helminths and have many adverse affects on carriers including weakening the immune system, interfering in the nutrient absorption process, and releasing various toxins. This infection is not uncommon in America, especially in children. Other kinds of flies such as the TseTse fly carry different diseases, including the fatal “sleeping sickness” trypanosomiases.
