are the fleas that bite you the same that are on your dog?

No. Dog fleas are Ctenocephalides canis (Greek-Latin for comb-headed [bugs] of dogs), while human fleas are Pulex irritans (Latin for irritating flea). Although dog fleas can bite humans and vice-verca, ordinarily humans do not become “infested” with dog fleas the way that dogs do.
