Neither boat itself is substantially better or worse for the environment than the other. But they lend themselves to activities of varying environmental-friendliness. Fiberglass boats are designed for larger engines, and larger bodies of water, while aluminum boats are generally relegated to the smaller bodies of water that beg for smaller engines, if at all. So fiberglass boats will generally result in more air pollution than aluminum boats.
