If you are worried about the environmental costs of buying fake flowers vs. using real flowers than I suppose fake flowers are worse. The manufacturing of fake flowers involves the same industrial wastes as making other plastic and silk products and I can’t find any evidence of “green” fake flower makers. On the other hand, there has recently been a lot of press about the poor working conditions in the real flower industry, specifically those that come from South America.
