Are the expensive resorts in the Maldives doing anything to be green?

Due to rapid climate change the Maldives Islands are under serious threat to flooding that would cause sea water inundation, putting the islands under water. To help raise money towards the prevention of climate change a green tax of $3 a day for tourists has been proposed by the president. The ultimate goal of the Maldives government is to make the country carbon neutral and this tax would help fund this ambitious goal.
