Are elephants damaging to farmers?

Because of their large, uncontrollable size, elephants can be very threatening to farmers. In Lampung, Indonesia, for instance, a group of 30 elephants consistently ravaged through a farm every night, destroying rice paddies, cacao, cassava, and corn farms. It’s been very detrimental to the village in the area. The same problem has happened in Kenya as well, however, farmers and scientists have found a way to prevent it. Like many animals, elephants are afraid of bees. So, they’ve built a variety of barriers and fences equipped with beehives to protect the farmlands and crops from the destruction of elephants.
