I think it really depends on what you are comparing the eco-friendly clothing to. Yes, chances are likely that it will be more expensive than Wal-Mart or Target but it will be cheaper than Neiman Marcus. Natural Clothing Company has great basic pieces at reasonable prices. EcoPlum also has really cute clothing, but it is on the more expensive side.
I wouldn’t say they are necessarily more expensive, it really all depends on the person and what you consider “expensive.” Some eco-friendly clothing items might have a special name brand that increases the value, especially with how trendy being eco-friendly is these days. However, most are reasonably priced, since outrageous prices don’t really seem to fit with the whole eco-friendly philosophy.
If you feel like green clothing lines are more expensive, another pretty good option is buying used clothing. This can be super cheap if you go to Goodwill, but there are more fashion focused consignment shops like Plato’s Closet that cost more but generally have more stylish and often better quality clothes. Depending on where you live, there are also probably smaller independent consignment shops that might have even cooler stuff.
