Are the dyes that manufacturers put in our food bad for us?

    Generally, no. However, there are some food dyes that are known to have harmful effects, but those are usually banned.     Artificial food dyes can cause allergies to some percentage of the population, and there’s even some evidence to suggest that artificial dyes have links to more serious health problems, including hyperactivity in children and cancer.  Very small amounts on occasion most likely won’t hurt you, but it’s still far better to look for foods with no dyes or dyes derived from natural sources.
