    Yes, particularly in northwestern China. In the early decade dust storms began to intensify as more and more land turned to desert because of deforestation, erosion and intensive land use. It is estimated that 900 sq miles turn into desert every year in this region every year. These massive dust storms have become more frequent and are even causing mass migrations from these regions.
