Are the donkey tours at the grand canyon a green way to see it?

Tourists and travelers have been riding mules and donkeys into the Grand Canyon for over a century, though today it has become so popular that bookings need to be made up to a year in advance. This method of canyon exploration utilized significantly less fuel than jeep, atv or helicopter tours, all of which have become equally popular in recent years.

The Grand Canyon is also home to an impressive number of footpaths and trails, making hiking, backpacking, and bicycling more green options for exploration.
