are dolphins endangered?

    Southern resident killer whales are technically a dolphin species that is endangered.  All freshwater dolphins are currently listed as endangered if not thought to be extinct.  Most of the better known species of dolphins are not endangered but some do have depleted populations.

    There are currently 6 species of dolphins that are on the endangered species list and more than 20 additional species are on the endangered waiting list. Those on the endangered list include the Baiji, the Vaquita, the susu, harbor porpoise, hectors and amazon river dolphins.
