When considering whether digital frames are good for the environment, it needs to be considered what they are made of. They consume energy and disposing of the monitor may be difficult to recycle. One wouldn’t want to just throw away a digital photo frame because then it could be very damaging for the environment. If the life of the frame is good, and they are taken good care of and are of moderate energy consumption, then there’s no reason that proper digital photo frames can’t be accepted into the market.
To add, if you are comparing a digital photo frame which needs to be plugged compared to a regular frame that doesn’t than yes, because you are using more energy than if it wasn’t digital.
