In general, yes. Democrats do care more about the environment than Republicans, who tend to favor protecting the economy above any further environmental regulations. Indeed, the climate bill that is the most likely to pass at the moment was drafted by two Democrats, Waxman and Markey. Republicans have proposed amendments that weaken the bill’s ability to combat climate change. However, there is more hope now than ever before, as more people, both Democrat and Republican, begin to realize the urgency of action that climate change demands. Regardless, I fully expect an effective climate bill to be passed at least by next year.
