Cycling injuries have been on the rise for the past 11 years. This is in part due to increased cycling due to high gas prices, the down economy and an increasing movement for a reduction in carbon emissions. Helmet use has not increased in spite of campaigns to raise awareness for the necessity of them. 33% of injuries are related to people who were not wearing helmets.
Cycling injuries continue to rise as the popularity of cycling rises. However, sharing the road with drivers who aren’t used to having cyclists in their blindspot could be hazardous.
