Are current nuclear power plants bad for the environment?

Unlike coal, oil, and natural gas, nuclear energy does not produce any carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen oxides. Unfortunately, nuclear waste is a dangerous byproduct of nuclear energy creation, and handling it has become a significant issue as nuclear energy production has increased. Geological repositories are seen as the safest, most efficient method of nuclear waste disposal.
