Research has suggested that floods and other extreme weather patterns are an indication of global warming. The United Nations has said that extreme weather, including flooding, heatwaves, and wildfires, are all signs of global warming. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, there is a 90% chance that more frequent heavy rainfalls and heatwaves will occur this century. The chance of bigger floods and drier droughts are both exacerbated by global warming.
