Crawfish and Lobsters both are crustaceans and belong to the decapoda group. Decapoda means ten legs in latin, which is how many both crayfish and lobsters have. However they do belong to diferent families. Crayfish fall in the families of Parastacoidea and Astacoidea whereas Lobsters are part of the Nephropidae or Homaridae families. The difference between crayfish and lobsters is that lobsters are primarily marine creatures, meaning they live in the ocean, whereas crayfish live in freshwater. Crayfish also have a diet consisting of dead animals and plants whereas the lobster diet is made up of live food, including other crustaceans and fish, as well as plants.
