It depends on what you consider a waste. The companies that send them out certainly don’t, as coupons are a proven way to increase sales at a relatively low cost. But it is true that most coupons go unused. And the amount of paper and energy that goes into making the coupons and transporting them to their destination is significant. Any legislation aimed at decreasing paper waste from coupons would be a good step for the environment.
