Are cloth diapers more sustainable than disposable ones?

Most likely.  Although one can argue that washing cloth diapers wastes water, disposable diapers contribute annually about 5 million tons of untreated waste and a total of 2 billion tons of urine, feces, plastic and paper.  The manufacturing of disposable diapers also requires about 80,000 pounds of plastic and 200,000 trees per year.
