In terms of achieving the goal of creating more comfortable living conditions, both box-fans and ceiling fans can be successful. However, there are many more criteria to judge on when determining which type is better. If portability is key, than a box fan is certainly better. On the other hand if style and ease of operation are more important, ceiling fans are better. Regardless, both can help in circulating air to achieve reduced energy from cooling costs in summer. Another added benefit of ceiling fans is that they can actually help in winter as well. By reversing the direction of the blades’ rotation, air can be drawn up from the floor to circulate better and ease the burden on the HVAC system.
