The Eastern European countries are leaders in green technology. Newsweek ranked Germany as a world leader in green technology. Yale University complied data on various factors, ranking the countries based on an Environmental Performance Index (EPI). The data expressed a directly corrolation between a country’s weath and rank on this list, with Switzerland, Sweden and Norway as the top three green countries.
It’s something of a matter of opinion. Certainly China seems interested in investigating and implementing greener technology—I’ve linked below to an article on its research into cleaner-burning coal. China manufactures about 30% of the world’s photovoltaic cells, although it doesn’t use that many itself. Other countries, like France, already have a considerably cleaner power supply than the United States.
