Are the cheetah’s population shrinking every year?

Cheetahs, though they have no predator, are quickly shrinking in numbers.  The main reason, is that their homelands are shrinking.  What remains is taken over by farmers who then kill the cheetahs when they appear to threaten their livestock.  About 10,000 cheetahs live in Africa right now, a huge decline from the 100,000 of ten years ago.  One method to stop this is the implementation of shepherd dogs inorder to keep livestock from being killed and subsequently, the cheetahs.
