Cave systems are known for maintaining a very constant temperature, much more constant than the environment external to the cave. This is because thick rock provides very good insulation, through which winds, rain, and sun often cannot penetrate. Carlsbad caverns, for example, maintains a temperature of about 55 degrees in all seasons, with a variation of less than one degree.
As with most things natural, there are exceptions to the cool cave. The giant crystal caves at Naica Mexico are around 150 degrees.
