I think they often find themselves at odds but aren’t by nature opposed to one another. The infrastructure that we have in place is costly and deleterious to environment, everyone can agree on that. What we need are consumers to believe that their decisions are positive and possible and can inspire change in this infrastructure. We need consumers to show that environmental decisions are what we want and we show that by spending our money. Then, and only then, will more money be poured into sustaining the environment until people become very rich by finding ways to improve the environment.
Not necessarily, although capitalism does encourage industry and profits, which can sometimes supersede a company’s devotion to protecting the environment.
