Are candles better for the environment if they burn longer?

Well, candle smoke does release CO2 into the air, but this is done at such a low level that it really has a negligible effect overall. So long as your burning this candle as opposed to turning on a light, then yes it would be good for the environment.

Paraffin candles are made from petroleum which releases CO2, and burning those candles for a longer period of time will release more CO2 into the atmosphere.  Soy candles are a great alternative to regular candles since they do not release pollutants into the environment.
