Are Californian’s going to be able to buy big TV’s once the efficiency ratings come out?

The new energy efficiency standards approved by the California Energy Commission in November 2009 applies only to screen sizes that are 58 inches or smaller.  The law sets goals to create new TV screens that reduce electricity consumption by 33% by 2011 and 49% by 2013.  That being said, the consumer demand will drive the market, if Californians prefer to purchase smaller energy efficient televisions, we may see the larger screens being phased out, or a divergence into alternative technologies such as projection TVs.
