According to Dr. Melissa Stoppler, brand-name and generic drugs are exactly the same. Dosage, intended use, side effects, method of administration, risks, safety and strength are identical. The only difference is price, as generics are generally much cheaper. This difference is because the generic drug manufacturer did not have to invest the time and expense in research, development, and testing that the original manufacturer did.
