A floor fan uses 100 watts on the highest speed, and ceiling fans use only 15 to 95 watts depending on speed and size. A box fan has more power and is able to pull hot air out or pull cold air in faster.
However, even though the ceiling fan uses less power, depending on the blade size and speeds, the ceiling fan circulates the air evenly, creating comfortable temperatures and covering a wider space.
