It all depends on the kind of bird you’re talking about. Most birds don’t eat apples or the bugs inside of apples, except for wrens, mockingbirds, and waxwings. These birds actually do eat the apple for the apple’s sake, however. That said, apple seeds contain small amounts of cyanide and are deadly to birds, so it’s recommended you only give birds small, seedless slices
While birds certainly wouldn’t be opposed to eating insects found in apples, many species of bird are particularly fond of fruits. These include Robins, Thrushes, Catbirds, Mockingbirds, and Woodpeckers. It is not uncommon to find these birds eating fallen fruits or stealing them off of bushes.
