There are arguments that biofuels are not cheaper to manufacture than oil. A University of Minnesota study (attached below) argues that the environmental and economical cost of biofuels is more expensive than oil. Due to the expansion of fields to produce more ethanol at the expense of natural habitats it could produce more greenhouse gases and the costs to maintain the larger agricultural production. There are several factors to consider when producing any fuel source.
