The American Wind Energy Association says that taller windmills with wider wingspans are more efficient and more powerful. The trend is going toward bigger wind turbines, too: 25 years ago they had an average 18-yard rotor versus today’s average of 110-yard rotors and the power output has increased from 100 to 2,500 kW, respectively.
