The bald eagle can reach speeds of 30-35 mph, but it would be eating the dust of its cousin the peregrine falcon, which can reach diving speeds of up to 200 mph. I could find no record of any other eagle species flying faster than the bald eagle (though closely related, falcons are not eagles). Bald eagles are the fastest growing birds, however. They weigh about 4 oz at birth and gain 6 oz a day, and can outweigh their parents at only three months of age.
