Thailand has a captive elephant reintroduction program. As directed by the country’s queen, the national Elephant Reintroduction Foundation is in charge of the Elephant Reintroduction Program. Thailand’s population of elephants has decreased from 100,000 in the wild to only 2,000 in the wild and another 3,000 in captivity. To date several elephants have been released successful into the protected refuges and parklands of Thailand.
