Are animals turned on by sweat?

You could say that, but the science behind it is a bit more complex. Mammals secrete various chemicals in their sweat which are commonly referred to as pheromones. These pheromones can carry messages about the mammal’s current state of fertility, health, and willingness to mate. Since non-human animals don’t have a verbal language system like we do, these scents are very important to their interactions with each other. Humans respond to chemicals in each other’s sweat as well, but it doesn’t register with us on a conscious level.
