Are Americans still as fired up about high speed rail as they were a couple of months ago?

The explosive nature of the Californian budget crisis has made them more suspicious of a Multi-million dollar transportation project. People aren’t sure about the economic implications of this project. In a time where the economy rules its hard to get fired up about spending taxpayer money.

However there are still a bunch of environmentalists out there who support a fast-pace alternative to gas-guzzling vehicles. There is a fair consensus that high-speed rails between major cities is the “right” next step for American transportation.
