Are Americans the biggest consumers in the world?

Of some things, absolutely, but not everything.  We consume the most grain per capita, but not the most water, and we’re number 4 in per-capita fossil-fuel consumption.  China also exceeds the U.S. in consumption, but not consumption per capita (there are many, many more people in China).  Overall there’s not a clear leader in general per capita consumption of resources, since every country has different needs.
