Are American people scared of geoengineering?

In a way, I think they are just scared of what they don’t know. A lot of Americans are very reluctant to “go green” and think it is more of a fad than a real movement. For some people it is a fad, but for most it is something that means a lot. Geo engineering is something that is essential to this movement, so hopefully more people will become more supportive of it in the future.

Many scientists and people, American and from many other cultures are unsure about the possible impacts of geoengineering. Geoengineering is a man made deliberate alteration of the environment designed to prevent, slow down, or stop global warming. One idea being discussed is atmospheric seeding which would be used to cool the climate by releasing sulfur particles in the atmosphere that reflect the sun’s rays. Some reasons that people are uneasy about this is because it could damage atmospheric ozone and dramatically change local weather conditions. Another issue is how much sulfur particles should be released and what would happen if too many sulfur particles were released.
