Yes, Tsunamis (tidal waves) are cased by earth earthquakes, along with other disturbances that move a mass of water such as volcano eruptions, landslide, ice breaking (a very large chunk of ice), or a meteoroid impact. They are usually triggered by undersea earthquakes, though.

Earthquakes, shifts in the Earth’s tectonic plates, can either push the Earth’s crust upward or force it downward – either way, huge amounts of water are displaced, causing a tsunami. Submarine landslides, cosmic impacts or submarine volcanic eruptions can also cause tsunamis, as they all displace lots of ocean water.
