They are all either from pet stores or some other irresponsible, unqualified owner. This is because a responsible breeder simply would not sell their puppies to a pet store. Many of these stores take poor care of their dogs, and all of them have very impersonal sales methods that do not ensure the dog is going to a good home. A caring breeder will want to meet you before you take the dog, will ask you questions about how you will care for it, and will allow you to see the place the dog was born and the other dogs raised there. It’s these breeders, not the pet stores, that you want to give your money to. Another good option is to adopt a dog from the pound, all of whom desperately need a second chance.
Check out the second link for a checklist to look over when finding a breeder.
