Most kinds of fish are edible, however, some organs can be poisonous, and some fish can become toxic in certain areas. This usually depends on the type of diet the fish has as well as the region it lives in, particularly tropical regions of the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean. A disease called “ciguatera” can occur in these particular regions, and is very dangerous to man.
It’s possible to eat every type of fish, but it is highly suggested that you don’t eat certain species. It is suggested for a variety of reasons that you don’t consume imported Catfish, American Eel, Orange Roughy, and shark.
