This question is a source of great debate. Theoretically, algae can produce up to 30x more energy per acre than any other biofuel because it grows very quickly. Furthermore, algae’s byproducts could be used in a number of ways, making it very efficient. (Think about the whole “eat all of the buffalo” philosophy.) However, we have not yet come up with the technology to mass produce it, and this process could be costly. For a whole lot more information on both the pros and cons of algae biofuel, check out this debate website: http://debatepedia.idebate.org/en/index.php/Debate:Algae_biofuel
