Are Africanized honey bees nests different than regular honey bees nests?

Africanized honey bees tend to be slightly smaller than your common honey bees and thus have slightly smaller sized hives and smaller cells. Africanized honey bees tend to have their hives closer to the ground or even underground as well. The hives also tend to be more in the open rather than in protective sheltered selections like the common honey bees choose. Africanized honey bees will have a much larger number of defensive “guard-like” bees, and are very defensive. Physical differentiation of Africanized honey bees is not easily apparent, so always be careful!
