Are Acrylic Paints harmful to humans and the environment?

Except for small amounts of ammonia and formaldehyde, acrylic paints do not contain any components that would prove harmful to humans.  In general, acrylic paints are not considered harmful to the environment either, but should be handled and disposed of according to instructions and regulations.  You can find toxicity information for most specific brands of acrylics by searching for MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet).
