Are acrylic nails bad for the environment?

Acrylic nails can be bad for the environment, for those who produce them, and those who work with them. Acrylic nails can contain toluene, formaldehyde, and dibutyl phthalate- all harmful chemicals. In addition, the acrylic nails require energy to produce and transport them while offering few options for recycling or reuse, instead taking up space in landfills and wasting resources.
