Is anything being done to protect the Santa Ana sucker fish?

On December 8th of this year wildlife officials proposed new protective measures for the rare Santa Ana Sucker Fish.  These measures would make it much more difficult for surrounding areas to be able to use the water in the rivers that the sucker fish inhabits.  It is one of the few fish that still lives in fresh water creeks and rivers in Southern California.
