Yes. Though it is now more strictly regulated, just like hunting, wild animals are still trapped for food, furs, and sport. Like hunting, it’s possible to practice in a sustainable fashion. In some cases, hunting and trapping can be beneficial, helping to control populations when natural predators like the wolf and cougar have been extirpated. Each state has its own regulations on trapping. Just do a quick Google search for your state and “trapping regulations”, and you should find everything you’ll need to know.
