There are a few new fuels in the works which emit much less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. The most notable is made from the Camelina seed, developed by Sustainable Oils Inc. Switching to this bio-fuel may be able to cut jet fuel emissions by 84%. Airline companies are reluctant to move too quickly towards this fuel though. This is because engine modifications are expensive, and there may be more efficient fuels being developed in the near future.
